科学において新しい機能かつ安価を目指すのは難しい．Aiming at new function and inexpensive is very difficult in science.

本日は学術講演会に途中から参加しました．

Today, I participated lecture meeting at the middle of time

早く発表者として参加したいものです．

I want to paticipate as presenter.

こういうところで専門外の人と話をすると

意外な角度から質問がとんできます．

I'm often asked question from surprising angle. 

前に微粒子コーティングの話を他の学部の方に説明した時に

Previously when I explain microparticle coating(my research theme) to other department student, 

「その技術は高価なものになるのでは？」と質問を受けて

I asked that ''Is that technique expensive?'' 

困惑したことを思い出しました．

and I get bewildered.

今，もう一度冷静に答えるならば，

 now I answered the question from her again?

徐々に安価な方法が開発されつつあります．

Recently, little by little, inexpensive method  is started to develop in this technique.

技術というのは歴史をみても

As I look back on science history, 

最初から安価なものは目指していません．

technique was aimed inexpensive at first.

おそらく新しい機能と安価という２つを一気に追うと

Probably, aiming at new function and inexpensive is very difficult.

複雑になりすぎるのだと思います．

まずは出来るとこから，というのが科学の基本のような気がします．

I think that ''At first, from feasible aim '' is basic of science.

と解答すべきだったのかなと．

now if I answer the question, I should answer in this way.
